Ellie is the project director for the A Lot Like You (formerly Worlds Apart) documentary project. Since returning from Tanzania in the winter of 2004, her primary focus has been on overseeing the post-production (editing, grant writing, fundraising) of A Lot Like You.
Ellie also keeps busy working as a freelance videographer and editor for 9elephants productions. With roots in the social justice movement, she has created numerous videos for local non-profit agencies addressing the following issues:
- Migrant workers
- Immigrant and Refugee communities
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing communities
- Bi, Trans, Lesbian and Gay communities
On A Lot Like You, Tom wore all the hats you could imagine as half of a two-person crew making a film in a developing country: director, gaffer, production designer, interviewer and so on.
Since returning to Seattle at the end of 2004, he has been working in a wide variety of production roles with the intent of honing his skills as a director and producer. In addition to various projects for 9elephants, he is also producing and developing a feature set to begin filming in late August.
Prior to being a filmmaker, Tom worked as an engineer and scientist in the biotech and aerospace industries. While not directly applicable, his technical background has made for an easy transition into videography.
